Every promise here points at a real switch, a real sentence in the app, or a real address.
A note is yours until you say.
Every note asks who can see it and answers in plain words — Only you can see this. — before it’s saved.
Nothing imported is ever shared on its own.
Kindle highlights and everything from other sources land as private material. Sharing one is a separate act.
Your Amazon password never touches us.
Kindle import happens in Amazon’s own page, on your phone.
Anything it isn’t sure of stops and waits.
A complete scan of the book you asked for goes straight into its journal; anything partial, or an edition Nook isn’t sure of, is shown to you first.
The list Kindle sends is titles, not highlights.
Bring in from Kindle sends the list of books it found — titles, authors and Amazon’s book numbers, never highlights.
What you left unticked stays a title on a list.
Nook keeps the list it found, the unticked books included, marked with what you chose, and brings in only the ones you ticked. The list leaves only when your account does.
Locked means locked.
A note ahead of a reader reaches their device without its words until they reach the page.
No feed, no followers, no counts.
Friends are people you handed a key to. A friendship never opens your journal.
Clubs are unlisted unless they choose otherwise.
A listed club can be found by name, and anyone in Nook can see what it is reading; joining still takes an invitation.
A reflection link is the key.
Send one as a link and whoever holds the link can read it, with no account. Stop sharing, and every link closes at once.
Report and Hide, on what someone else wrote.
On iPhone, press and hold; on the website, press the Report button on the row. Report sends it to a person at Nook. Hide is a preference on your device; nobody is told.
Delete your account in the app.
Settings, then Delete account. It tells you what leaves and what stays, then asks you to type your email. Clubs you started pass to the longest-standing member.
Recordings are private; photographs are shown only to your club.
A photograph lives at an address only your club is given. Encrypted backups of the database are taken, and a restore has been proven, not assumed.
A person answers.
[email protected] is read by a person, in the order things arrive; [email protected] for anything about your data.
